Fairness in DeKalb County Schools

Fair Funding in DeKalb Schools Now!

In light of the dire budget deficit facing DeKalb County Schools, we, the undersigned, demand that the DeKalb County School Board treat every student in the school system fairly.  Currently, the cuts that are  proposed eliminate or drastically change certain programs while leaving others untouched.   In addition, many schools may be closed which will impact students, teachers and communities. 

At the end of this process, the Board must assure that the needs of all students are met.  This cannot be accomplished by protecting the high achievers and arts magnet programs at the expense of students in traditional schools and other programs.  

The high achievers and arts magnet programs cost the system over 3 million dollars and benefit fewer than 3,000 students.
